Over 60 Years in Business

Toledo Coin Exchange started as a part-time business in 1960 with its then owner Clyde Englehardt renting and using a post office box and spending many weekends setting up to buy and sell at local and major coin shows. Business continued to grow and eventually Toledo Coin Exchange began operating at 5590 Monroe Street in Sylvania, where nearly forty years later it still resides. Featuring a large walk-in vault and extensive showroom area, Toledo Coin Exchange is the largest and busiest coin shop in the Greater Toledo area.

In early 2024 Cylde Englehardt retired after a remarkable 60+ year career serving the Toledo area. New owner Brett Charville, a Sandusky, Ohio native who frequented the store as a kid, began operating Toledo Coin Exchange with the goal of continuing Clyde’s legacy of integrity, transparency, and stewardship within the community. A lifetime numismatist himself, Charville was previously the president of the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), the largest coin grading and authentication service in the world.

  This place is THE best coin shop around, the prices are very good, I love coming here on my off days to chill, they have a big selection of all types of coins and banknotes, I'm a big world coin collector so I'm usually on that side of the shop, they have great deals, world coins are only 10 cents each, I've gotten some from the 1800s in the pile. What kind of coins do you buy?

We buy collectable coins from the United States, Canada, and all other countries of the world. A coin is defined as: a piece of metal stamped and issued by the authority of a government for use as money. Most of the times the coin will have a denomination (value) stamped on it, and also a date of issue.

Where are you located?

We have been at 5590 Monroe St. Sylvania OH, 43560 since 1986. We are approximately 1 ½ miles west of Westfield Mall on Monroe St, or approximately 1 mile east of US 23. We are between Whiteford and Cory Rd., just past Vin Devers Mercedes dealership. Also look for our 30 ft. high sign with a gold coin on top.

Do you pay cash?

We pay by check for nearly every transaction. Due to the amount of purchasing we do on a daily basis, it is safer for us and the customers to not keep high amounts of cash on hand.

What do I need to bring with me, in order to sell to you?

In order to sell, one MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD, and have a STATE ISSUED PHOTO ID. Even if you have been in our store in the past, you still must present an ID every time you sell.
